Tamsin

The door to the cockpit hit the wall so hard it dented the handle and stuck fast. Unconcerned with the damage, Lotte prowled through the opening. He spied the brawling duo, and disgust flickered across his chiseled features. A harsh growl emitted from his chest.

Blood dribbled from the corner of Gentry’s lip as he slid off Leo. Shifting to his knees, he bowed his head respectfully. Do not say a word, Tamsin.

His warning rang through my mind as Leo righted himself. Sneering, he cocked back his fist and sucker punched Gentry. In slow motion, Gentry’s jaw twisted to the side. The joint stretched to the limit, then snapped. His eyes rolled back, and he hit the floor.

Lenna’s agitation burst from my throat with the promise of violence.

Shocked by her reaction, I froze. What in the holy fuck was going on?

Raising his brows, Lotte crossed his thick arms. The black tee gracing his chest strained with the motion. “It seems your twin has taken a liking to Gentry.” Curiosity flashed across his face. Turning, he slapped a red button mounted to a metal strut.

The massive pistons near the rear of the plane hissed to life as the hanger door opened. Wind rushed in. My ears popped at the change in pressure. I slipped its tether, and my hair lashed my cheeks with small stings. Macy whimpered and tucked herself securely against my hip.

Lotte nodded to Gentry. “Leo, throw him over.”

Smirking, Leo hefted Gentry’s unconscious body.

The command barked from my mouth before I could catch it. “Stop!”

Leo stilled with one foot in the air. Confusion colored his tone. “Sir?”

Amber encircled Lotte’s blue irises. “You heard me.”

Leo gulped, and his shoulders began to shake. A bead of sweat trickled down his cheek.

The others looked on, their expressions ranging from confusion to glee.

“Now, Leo!”

His boot touched down and he exhaled in relief.

Rubbing his chin, Lotte seemed to dare me to intervene again.

Oh my God. He was actually going to do it.

Lenna snarled, Tamsin!

Anger and revulsion churned through me. Gentry was mine. Unbuckling my belt, I gently pushed Macy aside and stood. My collar’s lock settled against my throat, a heavy reminder that I couldn’t afford to shift. “Drop him, Leo.”

Though it was but a whisper Leo instantly obeyed. Gentry’s bulk hit the deck and he groaned.

Flicking her ears, Lenna bared her teeth. Finish him.

Realizing her meaning, I stammered, I… can’t.

Tam, you must.

Lotte watched my inner debate. A moment passed and he frowned. “You can’t control them all.” He glanced at Macy intently. “Choose.”

I balked. He doesn’t mean…?

Heaving a sigh, Lenna tipped her white muzzle. Our insubordination cannot go unpunished.

Bile burned the back of my throat. This was outright murder.

We aren’t human. If we’re to survive you need to let go.

Much as I didn’t want to admit it, she was right. But maybe there was another option. Clamping down on my emotional turmoil, I grimaced. “Jump, Leo.”

The command took root, and his body propelled itself toward the end of the hanger. Desperate, he pleaded, “No, please! Please! Lotte! No!”

Lenna forced my eyes to remain open as he stepped over the ledge.
